Raheel Poonja made the journey from Texas across state lines to the neighboring state of the north to attend the inaugural Invite presented by Dunlop at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit, located in Pawnee County, Oklahoma. The twenty-seven-year-old was one of the few riders to enter The Grom | Z125 World Championship race, setting him up for a titanic battle with Josiah Burleson for the overall win. Poonja managed to beat Burleson’s lap times in one of the practice sessions, but he didn’t quite have the pace to pull off the victory all weekend long. The Texan twisted the grip off of his Honda Grom for all six laps of the opening race and despite their best lap times only being two tenths apart, he finished nearly seven seconds down at the finish line at the end of the first race. In the second race, Poonja was able to keep pace with the teenager throughout the early stages and their lap times were even closer the second time around, but he would be forced to settle for 2nd place yet again and ultimately 2nd place on the overall podium at the end of Sunday’s action.
